Conor McGregor recently shares a DM request sent by Dustin Poirier’s wife Jolie Poirier. It’s obvious that McGregor wants to win the mental warfare leading into UFC 264 and he is going all-in with his trash talks and theatrics.
However, it does not seem to phase Dustin Poirier. So far Poirier has been calm and composed, but things might change when these two come face to face during the UFC 264 press conference.

In a recent interview with BT Sport, Dustin Poirier responded to McGregor leaking his wife’s DM request and said that McGregor fabricated the whole scene. Poirier said:
“If it was real and my wife was messaging him or something like that then it’s a good move. But if it’s fabricated or…so you know, me and my wife were laughing about it yesterday when I was at the grocery store. But it’s just…there’s no holds barred in the (expletive)-talking, so.”
However, Conor McGregor seems to have a different opinion about it. In a recent interview, McGregor denied sharing the details about the messages sent by Jolie Poirier and stated:
“You have to ask her. I don’t have a clue. We don’t play that game you know, it’s another man’s wife.”
Can Conor McGregor beat Dustin Poirier at UFC 264?
Though the trash talk and mental warfare from Conor McGregor are extremely entertaining for the fans none of them will mean much if he does not get the win at UFC 264.
It’s safe to say that we did not see the best Conor McGregor. Now if he has made the adjustments and put in the effort during the training camp then there is a huge possibility that McGregor will come out victorious at UFC 264.
However, it will be foolish to look over Dustin Poirier who is coming off a knockout win against McGregor. As per most fans, he is undoubtedly the best lightweight in UFC at the moment, and rightfully so.
In order for McGregor to beat Poirier, he must do it early in the fight. As the fight goes past the second or third round the chances of Poirier finishing the fight will be much higher as McGregor will empty the gas tank.
So far it seems we have the old Conor McGregor back and he will show up with the karate stance and mixed things up instead of fighting with a boxing heavy approach. But, only time will tell which version of McGregor are the fans going to see.
