SUMMARY
- Adam "Edge" Copeland moved to AEW after a long stint with WWE.
- Recently, the veteran pro wrestler opened up on his time with the Tony Khan-led promotion.
Adam Copeland, aka Edge, is currently a part of AEW, where he is the AEW TNT Champion. However, he is well-known among pro wrestling fans for his 25-year career with WWE. Meanwhile, Edge currently performs at AEW, where his best friend, Christian Cage, is also on the roster.
In that regard, it is worth mentioning that Christian Cage was also previously a part of WWE. However, he left the Stamford-based promotion in 2005 and signed with TNA. But he later left TNA and re-signed with WWE. Moving forward, he took his retirement in 2014 but made his AEW debut in 2021.
With that, fans often talk about the onscreen rivalry and real-life friendship between Edge and Christian. Meanwhile, Copeland recently appeared for an interview with Chris Van Vliet. During that, he stated that he understood why Christian left WWE for TNA. In addition to that, Edge also drew similarities with his move to AEW from WWE.
Chris Van Vliet asked Edge how he previously felt when Christian informed him that he was going to TNA. Copeland then said that Cage had told him about going to TNA the very day he told others about it. Edge mentioned that, though he was initially surprised, he later understood why Christian went to TNA.
Edge said, “I get it. You know when people put a limit on you and they won’t really allow you to go past that limit, it’s frustrating, and he needed to. I think he really needed to just to show himself that he could.”
Copeland added that he had similar reasoning for going to All Elite Wrestling. He mentioned that he wanted to get an opportunity to do what he knew he would be able to do in AEW. Meanwhile, as of now, both Cage and Copeland have been showcasing their dominance on AEW television.
Edge’s closest friend from WWE was one of the major reasons why he went to AEW
Edge, aka Adam Copeland, shocked the entire pro wrestling community when he made his AEW debut in October 2023. However, recently, while appearing for an interview with Chris Van Vliet, he mentioned that his closest friend, Christian Cage, was one of the reasons why he chose AEW over WWE.
Copeland said, “Honestly one of the major reasons on top of the roster was you know he’s (Christian Cage) there and we never got that single solo story that we wanted. You know we had opportunities with WWE but we weren’t in the right place, you know we weren’t the performers that we needed to be to pull off what we would be proud of. It was fine but it wasn’t what we thought it could be.”
Adam mentioned that he thought that since Christian was in AEW, he “got to go there.” Meanwhile, it is worth mentioning that since Copeland made his AEW debut, he has been involved in a feud with Cage. In fact, he previously defeated Christian to win the AEW TNT Championship.
Thus, it seems Edge wanted to have a single solo story with Christian, and he got it in AEW. With that, it now remains to be seen what lies ahead for them in the Tony Khan-led promotion.
Adam Copeland, aka Edge, gave a timeframe for his retirement
During his recent conversation with Chris Van Vliet, Copeland shared his thoughts on various topics. Meanwhile, the former WWE star also gave a timeframe for his retirement. He said, “When I retire this time, I truly…I’m going to come home and be dad, and occasionally act, and walk my dogs.”
Thereafter, Edge revealed that he has about a “year and a half left.” He said that he would have to do a lot of things within that timeframe. Adam mentioned that he has a lot of people in mind that he wants to work with within that time limit.

Thus, it seems Copeland plans to continue his unstoppable run for another year and a half and deliver more unforgettable matches to the fans. With that, fans will definitely look forward to his matches before he finally decides to hang up his boots once and for all.
