Nate Diaz vs Jake Paul delivered as advertised! Former UFC fighter Nate Diaz was ruled out by many even before the fight started as fans thought Jake would overwhelm him with his power. While Paul was certainly the more powerful fighter, Nate once again proved why he is the most durable fighter in the game and even implemented some of his MMA tricks.
While Diaz’s striking is certainly a potent weapon, it is his grappling that strikes fear into the hearts of his opponents. In round one of the 10-round slugfest, Diaz lowered his upper body and secured one of Paul’s legs. The move made it seem like Diaz was trying a single-leg takedown on Paul. Then, the Stockton native even locked in a guillotine choke right at the end of the final round.

Throughout the bout, Diaz clowned Paul for his lack of KO power. There were plenty of times when Nate mocked The Problem Child by acting as if he was hurt. Although Jake did manage a knockdown in round five of the contest, it seemed to wake Nate up, and he had a very strong performance in the last five rounds of the bout. However, Diaz ultimately ended up on the losing side as the judges scored the bout for Jake.
One judge had the fight 97-92 and the rest of the two judges scored the bout 98-91. Although Nate performed beyond expectations and put up a very entertaining fight in a losing cause, he may soon get the chance to redeem himself against Jake Paul, and that too in an MMA cage!
Nate Diaz accepts Jake Paul’s challenge for a $10 million MMA fight
Nate Diaz vs Jake Paul 2 is seemingly a lock! Ahead of the boxing match, the YouTuber-turned-boxer had an interesting offer for Nate. Paul, who is currently associated with PFL, offered Nate an opportunity to have an immediate rematch in PFL for a $10 million purse. He extended the same offer after the fight as well. When asked about his next move by Ariel Helwani in the post-fight interview, Paul revealed that he wanted a rematch in PFL.
To everyone’s surprise, Nate Diaz accepted as well! The 39-year-old is perhaps the most unpredictable character in the business. Fans saw him walking out of interviews during the fight week. Hence, many thought Diaz perhaps had no interest in being associated with Jake Paul. But dismissing all worries, Nate agreed to an MMA fight.

Hinting toward the guillotine choke, Diaz added, “I had the single leg in the first and the guillotine in the 10th… I already won that battle. … MMA sounds good.” (h/t via CBS)
