Jon Jones remains without an opponent and there’s no clear sight of who he might face in his heavyweight debut. There is confusion everywhere, and it’s safe to say that as things stand between Jon Jones and Dana White, it could be a while before we see Jones back in action once again.
Jon Jones vacated the light-heavyweight championship and announced his move to the heavyweight division in an attempt to solidify his legacy as the undisputed GOAT of mixed martial arts by becoming the heavyweight champion.

Jon Jones has stated that he wants to fight for the heavyweight title in his heavyweight debut, however, looking at the current situation of the UFC, it looks highly unlikely. Francis Ngannou is currently scheduled to take on Ciryl Gane for the UFC’s heavyweight championship. Gane stopped Derrick Lewis to become UFC’s interim heavyweight champion and will look to become the undisputed champion of the world.
Meanwhile, former heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic has expressed his desire for a rematch against Francis Ngannou and has also expressed his interest in a super-fight with Jon Jones. However, Jones’ team has shown no interest in a fight with Stipe Miocic. While a fight with Ciryl Gane also makes sense should he triumph over Francis Ngannou, it remains to be seen what lies ahead for Jones in his heavyweight journey.
One cannot simply ignore Stipe Miocic who will have to wait around for the winner of Ngannou vs Gane, and then for the Jon Jones fight if he remains adamant about fighting for the championship belt in his UFC return. A case can be made that UFC could look to jump over Jon Jones and award Stipe Miocic the rematch. However, nothing has been made clear by the UFC so far.
Francis Ngannou to fight Ciryl Gane for the undisputed heavyweight championship
There’s a reason to believe that Jones could fight the winner of Francis Ngannou vs Ciryl Gane. While it does put Stipe Miocic in a difficult position, it could prove to be beneficial for him as well if Jones becomes the heavyweight champion.
Stipe Miocic vs Jon Jones has been teased several times in the past, and should Jones become the heavyweight champion, a fight against the heavyweight GOAT Stipe Miocic is but a treat for fight fans.
