It looks like preparation has begun for Kamaru Usman ahead of the hugely anticipated rematch against Colby Covington. The stalwarts of the UFC’s welterweight division are set to meet each other inside the Octagon once again at UFC 268. While the date and venue have not been confirmed, according to multiple reports, the bout is set to take place in Madison Square Garden, New York.
Kamaru Usman and Colby Covington shared the Octagon back at UFC 245, in what is still considered as one of the greatest and most exciting title fights in the illustrious history of UFC’s welterweight division. It was a back and forth fight, with Kamaru Usman emerging on top with a fifth-round stoppage win over the interim titleholder.

Since then, Kamaru Usman has raked in three back-to-back wins. Two of those wins have come against Jorge Masvidal. Usman is on a rise and has looked incredible in his past few fights. One can’t deny that his striking game has gotten much better ever since he partnered with renowned coach Trevor Wittman. Usman’s back-to-back stoppage wins over Burns and Masvidal is a testimony of his vicious knockout power, and he will look to continue the same momentum going forward in his UFC career.
How Trevor Wittman has completely transformed Kamaru Usman
Usman was once considered a “boring” fighter by many fight fans. Usman’s outing against Jorge Masvidal the first time around invited the criticism of several fight fans, who rained down on the welterweight champion for trying to disengage from striking against Masvidal. However, in his last few fights, he has shown that he can strike, and that too against the very best that the division has to offer.
Much credit goes to Trevor Witttman, who has been working with him quite a lot in recent while. Trevor Wittman has been the guiding light behind some of the greatest mixed martial artists and currently helms two UFC champions in the form of Rose Namajunas and Kamaru Usman, and former interim lightweight champion Justin Gaethje.
