Khamzat Chimaev will return to action in the main card of UFC 267 later this year against top-prospect and #12 ranked welterweight contender Li Jingliang. The Chechnya-born fighter will finally step inside the Octagon after going through a rough patch in his mixed martial arts career.
Chimaev, who was set to take on Leon Edwards at one point had to pull out from the bout after contracting the dreaded coronavirus. While repeated attempts were made to keep the fight intact, the hugely anticipated fight between Chimaev and Edwards just couldn’t see the light of the day.

Be that as it may, we have a fight for Chimaev, and it’s official. The Chechnya-born fighter will take on the Chinese fighter Li Jingliang in what promises to be an exciting match-up between two young prospects in the UFC’s welterweight division.
Khamzat Chimaev finally return to action
Khamzat Chimaev rose to stardom after registering back-to-back wins in a matter of two weeks, clinching the record for the fastest successful turnaround. Chimaev has competed twice in the UFC’s middleweight division, and one in the welterweight division.
Recently, there were reports that Luke Rockhold had offered a fight to Khamzat Chimaev, however, the former middleweight champion claimed that Chimaev turned down the fight owing to his decision to stick to the welterweight division.
Needless to say, it will be interesting to see Chimaev back in action. UFC 267 is reported to take place on October 30 with Jan Blachowicz vs Glover Teixeira for the UFC’s light-heavyweight championship set to headline the event. Recently, UFC had also confirmed Amanda Ribas vs. Virna Jandiroba for the same card, with more exciting match-ups to follow.
