Khamzat Chimaev is currently a big deal in the UFC. The Russian-born Swedish has gained immense popularity in a very short time as a UFC fighter. The fighter competes in the Welterweight and Middleweight division and just after three octagon appearances, his hype is becoming unreal.
Chimaev started wrestling very early in his career and even won a bronze medal in the junior level at the Russian National Championships. After moving to Sweden at the age of 19 Chimaev continued his training and won a gold medal at Swedish Freestyle National Championships in the year 2016 and 2017.
After his first two professional MMA fights, Chimaev was signed by Brave Combat Federation (Brave CF). During that time, Chimaev was unbeatable and gave some great performances in the fights. Chimaev made his UFC debut against Jon Phillips at UFC on ESPN: Kattar vs. Ige last year. The debut fight turned out great for the fighter as he submitted Phillips in the second round and gained the victory. The performance also earned him the Performance of the Night award bonus of $50,000. Overall, Chimaev earned a total of $73,500 which included $10,000 to show, $10,000 as a win bonus and $3,500 fight week incentive pay.
Chimaev vs Rhys McKee
Just after 10 days of winning his first fight in UFC, Chimaev went up against newcomer Ryse McKee at UFC on ESPN: Whittaker vs. Till. Chimaev won the Welterweight bout via TKO in the first round setting a record for the fastest consecutive wins in UFC modern history. For the fight, Chimaev took home $77,500 which included $12,000 to show, a $12,000 win bonus, and a $3,500 as a fight week incentive. Chimaev also got an additional $50,000 for winning the Performance of the Night award bonus.
Chimaev vs Meerschaert
The ‘Borz’ got his highest fight purse in his last fight earlier against Gerald Meerschaert at UFC Fight Night: Covington vs. Woodley in September 2020. As per reports, the fighter earned a total of $143,500 which included the win bonus of $45,000 for knocking out Meerschaert in just 17 seconds. Chimaev also earned his third Performance of the Night bonus of $50,000 in the bout.
Chimaev vs Li Jinglang
Khamzat got his way into the top 10 of the Welterweight rankings by dominating Li inside the Octagon. It took 3 minutes and 16 seconds for the Borz to make Jinglang submit. For such an amazing performance at UFC 267, Khamzat got the performance bonus of $50,000 making his pay $154,500 for the night.
Chimaev vs Gilbert Burns
In the biggest fight of his career so far, Khamzat Chimaev took on the former UFC welterweight title contender, Gilbert Burns on the main card of UFC 273. It was an excellent bout between two extremely well-matched fighters. For that particular fight, Khamzat Chimaev was paid, a total of $205,000 (as per Total Sportal). He earned $75,000 each as his show money and win bonus. On top of that, $50,000 more as a post-fight bonus. The amount was rounded out by $5,000 for sponsorship deals.
