Maria Sharapova is a name dissimilar to none. The stunningly talented and fiercely determined former World No.1 tennis player, is a force to be reckoned with off the court too. But more than that she is an icon. Maria has inspired tons of women and young girls through her never-give-up attitude and unshakable mentality.

In this article, we will delve deeper into the life and legacy of this remarkable woman and discover what makes her a role model for generations to come.

Sharapova was asked in an interview, “Some women may hold themselves back because they want to be liked by everybody. Why do say to those women?” Maria replied with a strong and encouraging message. She said, “I think you have to be true to who you are. You know when you’re on a mission and when you’re committed, you’re not only going to make friends along the way.”

Sharapova’s message is particularly relevant today. Social media has made it easier than ever to compare ourselves to others and seek validation from likes and comments. Many women feel the pressure to conform to societal norms and ideals. Whether it’s in terms of beauty, career, or relationships.

How has Sharapova personally implemented her ideals?

Sharapova, who has won five Grand Slam titles during her illustrious career, knows about the pressures of living up to other people’s expectations. From a young age, she was groomed for success. She trained for hours on end to become one of the best tennis players in the world. However, as she climbed the ranks and gained more fame and fortune, Sharapova realized that her success wasn’t enough to satisfy the constant need for approval from others.

“Not everyone, in our society, in today’s world, not everyone’s gonna like, everything that you do. From what you wear to the things that you say. But ultimately does that really matter? If you believe in your actions and you believe in your words.” Maria said in an interview with the Wall Street Journal.

Today, Sharapova continues to inspire others with her message of determination and acceptance. She encourages women to embrace their imperfections and pursue their passions without fear of judgment or failure. “If you believe in your goals and your future. That is the most important thing, (be) cause that’s how you will carry yourself. Not everyone else.” With her unwavering confidence and determination, Sharapova is a role model for women everywhere.

I'm a tennis fanatic who can't get enough of Carlos Alcaraz and Iga Swiantek. Even though I've been following the sport for almost 6 years now, the one particular Novak Wimbledon victory in 2019 against Federer is what made me fall in love with the game. Now being a full-time tennis lover, I specialize in writing opinion pieces, match analyses, and predictions. I hope the articles authored by me, give you an informative insight into the beautiful exhibit of lawn tennis. Happy reading!
