The UFC’s most entertaining fighter, “Iron” Michael Chandler, recently attempted to play some mind games on Twitter with his future opponent, Conor McGregor. In a tweet, Chandler wrote, “Go ahead, you walk out the octagon first, the illusion of dominance is right where I want you to be. #tuf31.”
Replying to Chandler’s tweet, a confused fan wrote, “What weight you guys fighting at? Not sure Connor makes anything below 185lbs.” And Michael Chandler did not miss a beat in his response to the fan. He mentioned Conor’s bone density and how his weight wouldn’t change how their fight would go.
He and his photgrapher with his lights and angles will have you believe he is above 185…but his bone density will beg to differ. I’m in from 155-185. Weight won’t change the outcome.

“He and his photographer with his lights and angles will have you believe he is above 185…but his bone density will beg to differ. I’m in from 155-185. Weight won’t change the outcome.” Chandler wrote this in his reply to user asifchach. Michael Chandler thinks Conor is overstating his current mass. And regardless, “Iron” Mike thinks he wins against McGregor.
Conor McGregor and his new, bulky physique are constantly discussed among the MMA community. But it seems, Conor’s increased muscle mass is the least of Chandler’s worries. Mike seems to fancy his chances against the Notorious one despite the size, height, and reach disadvantage.
At what weight will Michael Chandler fight Conor McGregor?
When Dana White announced that Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler would serve as the coaches, he also revealed that they would fight at the end of the season. However, at no point did the UFC President reveal any other details about the fight. He simply let fans know that the two coaches would fight at the end of the season.
Fans were left to fill in the blanks about the fight’s date, venue, and weight class. However, veteran MMA journalist, Ariel Helwani, came to everyone’s rescue. He revealed on The Ringer MMA show that McGregor vs Chandler would be contested at welterweight, 170 lbs.
Helwani said, “The plan is they’ll fight in the third quarter, last I heard [in] September. We did a quick Twitter space this thing in the morning just to try it out… We were talking about the weight, wasn’t sure, [but] I’ve confirmed it’s 170 [lbs].
However, Dana White denied any knowledge of this at the UFC Vegas 68 post-fight press conference. Even so, the comments from both Helwani and Chandler seem to confirm that this bout is likely to happen at welterweight. And even though the Irishman claims a middleweight bout is the way to go, that’s just Conor being Conor.
