Eddie Alvarez was the main man of the hour at BKFC 56. In what was one of the biggest fights amidst an action-packed weekend, many were very keen to watch Alvarez fight. However, on the night, Eddie’s ever-present wife also became a key talking point.
For those unaware, BKFC 56 took place at the Maverik Centre in Salt Lake City, Utah. In what was the promotion’s best card to date, the “Underground King” took on Mike Perry. With both fighters having extensive experience in the fight game, it was a dream matchup for fans. Unfortunately, the fight did not yield a positive result for Alvarez.

On the night, Eddie suffered his first bare-knuckle loss due to corner stoppage after a serious swelling in his left eye. Whilst Alvarez himself was more accepting of the situation, his wife, Jamie Alvarez wasn’t. Notably, the former UFC man’s wife could be heard saying “F**K him (Perry)” and, “I don’t like him,” before proceeding to hurl some more insults at the winner. Here, Alvarez promptly and sternly asked his wife to stop.
In the past, many have pointed out Jamie’s shrill and ‘annoying’ voice and how she is a nuisance at times. Notably, many blamed her for Eddie not being able to hear Conor McGregor’s instructions at BKFC 41. Although some fans as usual piled on Jamie for her actions, many fans also commended her die-hard support for her husband.
Eddie Alvarez defended his wife in the post-fight press conference
Speaking about Jamie Alvarez, one fan wrote, “Love how she goes hard for him lol” whilst another fan wrote, “That pterodactyl voice.” Previously, Jamie had her infamous rise to fame after she could be heard screaming “EDDIE!” at the top of her lungs at each one of Alvarez’s fights. In a career that has spanned nearly 2 decades, it is difficult to pinpoint a fight in which Jamie was not present.
Having been married since 2008, Jamie has been a constant source of support and encouragement for Eddie. Initially starting off as high school sweethearts, the couple have since had a tremendous journey. Apart from being his most ardent cheerleader, Jamie is also the mother of Eddie’s four kids. Thus, the 39-year-old is extremely proud and protective of his wife.

Following the conclusion of BKFC 56, Eddie addressed the situation in the post-fight press conference. “I don’t know how many promoters I’ve had to apologize to about my wife. I met my wife when I was 15 years old”. Further, he continued, “People see her yelling in the crowd and say bad things to her but the truth is, when I was nobody, she picked me up from a terrible place and believed in me. When she yells, let her yell guys, She cares and I have four kids, so let her yell”.
Almost moved to the verge of tears, Eddie was clearly emotional speaking about the love and support of his wife. Understandably, Jamie Alvarez is the cornerstone of Eddie’s life and is like a rock for him. Throughout his career, the former UFC lightweight champ has attributed all his successes to his wife and expresses his gratitude for being blessed with a partner like her.
