UFC is targeting two huge fights in July according to the sports website. The foremost being the much-awaited trilogy between Dustin Poirier and Conor McGregor, and the other being the return of submission specialist Ryan Hall against undefeated Georgian Ilia Topuria.
Conor McGregor announced his return to the lightweight division when he took on Dustin Poirier in a potential #1 contender’s match for the UFC lightweight championship. However, despite entering the fight as a huge underdog, Poirier shocked the world as he handed the Notorious the first stoppage loss of his MMA career.

While McGregor emerged victorious the first time around, Poirier switched the clock as he picked up a scintillating KO win in the second round to further cement his legacy as one of the greatest lightweight fighters of all time.
However, soon after the victory, Poirier could be seen gesturing that the job is not done. Needless to say, the moment UFC 257 concluded, both the fighters opened the door for a trilogy bout. Earlier, Poirier had also said that he is looking at fighting McGregor sometime in June or July.

Recently, even ESPN journalist Ariel Helwani had stated that the hugely anticipated trilogy bout will take place in July after UFC confirmed a lightweight championship fight between Charles Oliveria and Michael Chandler for the vacant gold. Now, it looks like that could actually be a possibility.
There was once a hope McGregor-Poirier 3 fight would get done for May 15 but it’s taken longer than hoped/expected so they moved on from that a while ago, sources say. Won’t happen on June 12 (Figueiredo-Moreno on that card), so latest hope is the July 10 card. We’ll see.

While there has been no confirmation from the UFC regarding the match-up, UFC 262 looks like the perfect time for the UFC to hold the hugely anticipated rematch.
Additionally, the Ultimate Fighting Championship has its calendars booked till May, with Deiveson Figueredo set to take on Brandon Moreno for the UFC flyweight championship at UFC 263.
While a lot of eyes were on McGregor the last time around, the eyeballs will be on Dustin Poirier who will look to make yet another upset and cement himself as one of the greatest mixed martial artists to ever step inside the Octagon.
