A week has passed since Conor McGregor made some controversial statements on Twitter. One of those tweets was regarding the deceased father of Khabib Nurmagomedov. Consequently, The Notorious received a lot of backlash for his comments which were later deleted.
As a result, many UFC fighters gave their opinion regarding the Irishman’s distasteful comments on Khabib’s father. Additionally, the Russian received support from the entire MMA community. However, the Eagle did not respond to McGregor’s comments on his father on social media and decided to stay quiet during this controversy.
But a reporter from TMZ Sports raised a question regarding this issue a week after this incident during a short interview. He asked Khabib whether Conor crossed the line with his tweets. The Russian gave a short response by stating “I think so.” Before leaving the scene Khabib Nurmagomedov also commented that “It’s terrible.”
Hence if we take a look at the interview it is needless to say that the former UFC lightweight champion was unhappy with McGregor’s tweets.
Why did Conor McGregor tweet about Khabib Nurmagomedov’s father?
Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov have always engaged in a back and forth since the beginning of 2016. Moreover, both the fighters have commented many harsh things about each other during this period. However, Conor McGregor crossed the line this time by involving Khabib’s father.
To shed some light on this entire controversy, It started when Khabib posted a couple of tweets that captioned “Good always defeats evil” and “The way he said it“ after Dustin Poirier defeated Conor McGregor at UFC 264. Needless to say, the Irishman did not take the Eagle’s comments light-heartedly.
Good always defeats evil.
Very happy for @DustinPoirier I hope you will get the belt end of the year— khabib nurmagomedov (@TeamKhabib) July 11, 2021
Although Conor did not reply to Khabib’s tweet at that time. He decided to respond to this statement weeks later by indirectly involving the Russian fighter’s deceased father. McGregor tweeted “Covid is good, Father is Evil.” However, The Notorious always has cheeky replies but the former two-division champion went overboard this time by mentioning Khabib’s father.
It is quite certain that Conor was upset from all the scrutiny he faced after suffering a defeat. Moreover, The Eagle’s comments about McGregor’s injury could have played through his mind during the time he was making these tweets. As a consequence, Conor made this tweet and his comment turned into a big controversy.
