Paul Costa will not face Jared Cannonier in August at UFC Fight Night. However, this is not the first time that Paulo Costa has withdrawn himself from a fight. “The Borrachinha” was supposed to fight “The Grimreaper” in April for the main event. But, The Brazilian had to pull out from the fight because he had severe ‘flu’ due to which he had insufficient time to prepare for the match. Kelvin Gastelum stepped in to replace The ‘Eraser’ to face Robert Whittaker.
However, the UFC has announced that Kelvin Gastelum will again replace Paulo Costa for the Jared Cannonier fight. The UFC had not initially disclosed the reason as to why ‘The Brazilian’ has withdrawn himself from the fight. But later on, Paulo Costa broke his silence on Twitter to share his side of the story.

UFC needs to pay me as main fighter to have fighting in main events.
Youtubers are showing all disgrace on this business.— Paulo Costa ( Borrachinha ) (@BorrachinhaMMA) June 5, 2021
Just to be clear. I never signed or locked up that contract. Why ufc announced this fight if didn’t signed? My question too

It is understandable as to why The ‘Eraser’ is unhappy. YouTubers like Jake and Logan Paul are earning millions for their fight whereas he is not even making half the amount they have earned.
Paulo Costa joins the list of superstars who are disgruntled by their salary
‘The Brazilian’ is not the first UFC star who is unhappy with his pay. There are superstars such as Conor McGregor, Jorge Masvidal, Donald Cerrone, Jon Jones, and several other UFC fighters.
Former Light Heavyweight champion Jon Jones is facing a never-ending dispute regarding his pay against UFC. He believes he deserves more than 10 million to fight against Francis Ngannou for the UFC heavyweight Champion. But the company is not ready to pay such an amount because they think it’ll ruin the pay structure.

While speaking on Steve-O’s Wild ride podcast Jon Jones expressed that “I’m not asking for anything outrageous, and I know we’re in a pandemic and I know when you’re a multi-millionaire and you’re asking for more it makes you seem like this greedy person and I’m aware of all of this.”
Jon Jones took to Twitter and expressed his opinion.
Everyone knows fighters don’t make anything close to what they actually bring in when they fight. I really don’t see what the big deal is paying your main event for one of the biggest possible fights ever. It’s not like I’ll be asking for my actual fair share

The current Lightweight champion Charles Oliveira also revealed the amount of money that he received in bonuses is not good enough. Looking back at everything it seems that Paulo Costa did the right thing by standing up for himself. As a result, the UFC needs to start paying these fighters the fair share that they deserve. These fighters are the ones who put their lives on the line to entertain everyone. So it is unfair that they are mistreated and heavily underpaid.
