If Israel Adesanya’s coach Eugene Bareman is to be believed, the middleweight champion of the world will take on the legendary Polish Power Jan Blachowicz for the UFC’s light-heavyweight championship in the main event of UFC 259 scheduled to take place on March 6. Israel Adesanya has teased this match-up for quite some time now.
Additionally, even Blachowicz had nodded his head in agreement to the potential match-up. Now, it seems like it’s a done deal and the announcement could be coming very soon from UFC President Dana White.
Meanwhile, renowned coach and cornerman Eugene Bareman has confirmed that the New Zealand born fighter will take on the Polish fighter. Earlier, Blachowicz became the first fighter in almost a decade to hold the light heavyweight strap other than Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier. Blachowicz stopped Dominick Reyes in the second round to grab the gold in the co-main event of UFC 253.
On the other side, Israel Adesanya is coming off a spectacular KO win over then-undefeated Paulo Costa in the main event of UFC 253. The bout marked Adesanya’s second successful title defense after a unanimous decision win over Yoel Romero. Needless to say, with wins over the likes of Robert Whittaker, Derek Brunson, Kelvin Gastelum, Yoel Romero, Paulo Costa among others, Israel Adesanya has cemented himself as arguably one of the greatest middleweight fighters of all time.

Should he triumph over Jan BLachiwicz come UFC 259, he will become the first fighter in the history of UFC to hold the championship belt at the middleweight and light-heavyweight division simultaneously. It’s a huge risk for Adesanya, who will be fighting a much bigger opponent in the form of Blachowicz. However, the “Stylebender” has competed in the heavyweight division in the past.
Israel Adesanya vs Jan Blachowicz to main event UFC 259
Needless to say, the hugely anticipated match-up will serve as the main event of UFC 259. Also on the card is Amanda Nunes making her return to the Octagon. She will be back in action after her daughter’s birth to take on Megan Anderson for the UFC’s women featherweight championship. Meanwhile, other match-ups that are also in the works include the return of Dagestani fighter Islam Makhachev, who is set to take on Drew Dober on the same card.
Be that as it may, while Amanda Nunes vs Megan Anderson has been made official by the UFC. Israel Adesanya vs Jan Blachowicz has not been confirmed by the UFC.
