Derrick Lewis did not look particularly impressed with Conor McGregor’s performance against Dustin Poirier at UFC 257. Lewis stated that he felt the Notorious made “excuses” after losing to Poirier.
Derrick Lewis appeared alongside UFC commentator and podcaster Joe Rogan on the Joe Rogan Experience and expressed his views on Conor McGregor.
“Conor McGregor, he has a lot of excuses,” Lewis said, talking about the former champion’s reaction on losing to the Diamond at UFC 257. However, Rogan backed McGregor up and stated that he respects that McGregor wants the rematch as soon as possible.
“He had legitimate excuses. Dustin Poirier f****d up his leg, he said he wasn’t ready for that. He also said he was getting ready for Manny Pacquiao. But he also said Dustin is the better man. He was the better man that night.”

What’s next for Derrick Lewis?
Derrick Lewis is coming off a spectacular performance against top contender Curtis Blaydes. Lewis put a halt to Blaydes’ winning streak with a vicious KO to register the most number of knockout wins in the history of the UFC.
Derrick Lewis has stated that he has no plans of retiring and wants to remain in the title picture. Lewis also expressed his interest in fighting Francis Ngannou in a rematch should he emerge victorious against Stipe Miocic later this month at UFC 260. However, he also added that he wants to remain active and is open to the idea of fighting Ciryl Gane.
