Movsar Evloev took on Dan Ige in the co-main of UFC Vegas 56. While Ige was ranked no. 10 in the featherweight division and Movsar was the 13th ranked fighter in the division.
Evloev was a massive favourite coming into the fight. He was a -400 betting favourite. But it was Ige who landed the first blow that knocked Movsar back into the cage. But it did not take much long for the Russian to get going.

Although he is known for his wrestling, it seemed like Evloev had a point to prove. He knocked Ige around the cage at will. With almost 2 minutes to go in the first round, Movsar got a takedown. He then went on to score two more to end the round.
Dan made some tactical changes ahead of round 2. He seemed to move more sideways to avoid getting tagged by Movsar. But it did not make much of a difference as Evloev’s movement was on point. He never stopped walking Ige down and landed whenever Ige was in range.

But the closing of round 2 was much more chaotic than Movsar’s liking. Sensing that Ige was building momentum, Evloev shot for a takedown and got his fourth of the fight. On top, he had some vicious ground and pound. The effects really showed on Ige’s face as he was terribly marked up.
Movsar did not risk getting caught by any big shot at the beginning of the third round. Securing the fifth takedown pretty early in the round, Evloev pinned Ige against the cage. Although Dan managed to get up, he could not land even one meaningful punch on Movsar.

Movsar pretty much controlled the rest of the final round with heavy ground and pound. Ige tried to lock in a few submissions, but nothing worked on the Russian as he pretty much walked through Ige for a unanimous victory.
