NBA 2K is one of the most popular games from the 2K universe. The first set of releases was handled by Sega Sports. The 2k Sports took over the game from 2005-present. Every year the game tries its best to make it as close to real as possible and NBA 2K22 already has hype around its name.
With the story modes, contests, and the neighbourhood, NBA 2k is one of the most casually played sports games in the world. Ronnie, the director of sports business operations of NBA 2K always makes sure that hype surrounds the game.
Every year, before the game is released, 2K sports put out the cover athletes and player ratings. Well NBA 2K22 may have gotten some of them right but the blunders made in the ratings were not going to be brushed under the carpet.
How do the NBA 2K22 ratings stand?
The first list of ratings to be put out were the Top 10 overall 2k rankings. The order might be close to accurate but the ratings look like the players have to die on the court to get something above a 96. LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Stephen Curry are the top four players with an overall rating of 96.
Kawhi Leonard, Nikola Jokic, and Joel Embiid took the 5th, 6th, and 7th positions with an overall rating of 95. Luka Doncic, James Harden, and Damian Lillard are at 8, 9, and 10 with an overall rating of 94.

The Top 3point Shooters in NBA 2K22 is a fairly justified list. Stephen Curry leads the list with a 99 3 point rating. Klay Thompson might have missed a season or two but he is still at number two when it comes to 3 point shooting. He was awarded a 3 point rating of 95.
NBA Stars React to the NBA 2K ratings
The minute the NBA 2K22 rating was put out, NBA Stars were quick to react. LeBron James was in disbelief when he saw that Curry and Durant were rated only 96. We agree LeBron! KD and Steph had amazing runs in the last season. It is unfair to see these two get rated only 96.

James Harden was given an overall rating of 94. This Brooklyn Nets star did not hold back from giving out a sarcastic laugh on the ESPN Instagram page when he saw the ratings.

Trae Young was the sole star of the Atlanta Hawks last playoffs. Even after he single-handedly shut down an entire arena and managed to put up a strong fight against the Bucks, Trae Young was rated only 89. Trae did not stop from taking to social media and posting a question even we as fans have in our minds.

Kevin Durant spoke about how he thinks he deserves a 99 overall rating. From IQ to team leading to scoring, Kevin Durant always puts his best foot forward.
“I work extremely hard. I can make shots from all over the floor, I think I’m a great passer, great rebounder. Yeah, pretty much everything great. That’s why I should be a 99.”
Jayson Tatum was doing an interview with Ronnie when he found out about his rating. Tatum predicted he would get a rating between 92-95 but was shut down with a 90 rating.

NBA 2K22 is expected to drop in September or October first week. Hopefully, the game has improved a lot of the lags it had in last year’s game. Only time will tell us how smooth or not the gameplay is.
