Kevin Durant

Kevin Durant and Brooklyn Nets visited Little Cesar’s Arena for their matchup against the Detroit Pistons. The Nets were without their 2 big stars, Kyrie Irving (Personal) and James Harden (Rest), which added an extra scoring burden on Durant. But Kevin Durant seemed unfazed by that and scored massive 51 points against the Pistons.

Behind this humongous performance from KD, the Nets defeated Detroit Pistons 104-116. Interestingly KD nearly outscored the entire Piston’s starting lineup – who managed 56 points altogether. Patty Mills, Cameron Thomas, and LeMarcus Aldridge were also in double figures for the Nets. While Cade Cunningham and Frank Jackson made 25 and 26 points respectively rest of the Pistons team was struggling against the visitors.

It amazed KD when he was told that he broke the top-scoring record for the Little Cesar’s Arena and the previous record was 50 points by Blake Griffin. It was Griffin’s 1st and only 50 point game where he also managed 14 boards and 7 assists against the 76ers. Durant responded with all smiles, as Blake and KD are teammates right now in Brooklyn. He further said, well this is a new arena, someone will break this record also.

51 points from Kevin Durant set some milestones

This was Durant’s 7th game with 50+ points and 1st as a Brooklyn Nets player. While he broke Griffin’s record for most points at Cesar’s Arena by an individual player, KD also manage to break Steph Curry’s record. Stephen Curry scored 50 points against Atlanta Hawks at the Chase Center. Now with 51 points, Durant is the top scorer in a single game this season.

With these two new records under his belt, KD also reached some milestones with his 51 point performance,

1. This is 5th most in a single game for Nets franchise history. Nets great Deron Williams holds the record for the Nets with 57 points. KD’s teammate Kyrie once scored 54 points while Ray Williams and Mike Newlin have 52 points each.

2. Also this is Durant’s 7th game with 50+ points. Only James Harden (23) Damian Lillard (12), Steph Curry (10), and LeBron James (9) have more 50+ point games, since Durant’s inclusion in NBA.

Kevin Durant is leading the NBA with 28.7 points per game this season with Antetokounmpo (27.6) and Stephen Curry (27.1) in 2nd and 3rd position right now.
