The basketball superstar is one of the world’s most popular competitors, with her abilities on full show for the Phoenix Mercury. Griner is a three-time All-American, an Olympic gold medalist, and the only NCAA basketball player to score over 2,000 points and block 500 shots in her collegiate career, in addition to her WNBA accolades.
Fans have rolled their eyes not just because of her abilities, but also because of her height. However, Griner’s towering height continues to pique the interest of basketball fans all over the world. So, let’s take a closer look at Griner’s towering stature.

She is a sight to behold because of her height. Her shot-blocking abilities, rebounding prowess, shooting abilities, and “Slam Dunks” have been beneficial to her team and adored by her supporters. Griner in the 2021 season was amazing having played 30 games and averaging 20.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 1.9 blocks per game. Despite her height, she is not the tallest player on the current WNBA roster.
Bernadett Hattar of Hungary, who plays center for the Indiana Fever and measures 6 feet 10 inches tall, takes the first position in this scenario. However, due to an injury that has kept her out for nearly a year, if Hattar does not return to the court before the season begins, she will be the WNBA’s tallest player.
Griner, of course, just returned to the United States following a ten-month incarceration in Russia. There were worries about whether she would return to the league this year or take a year off after everything she had been through.
Griner declared her intention to play in the upcoming WNBA season following her return to her home spending some much-needed time with her wife. She began preparing for the next season after signing a one-year deal with the Phoenix Mercury. So, if Hattar is fit in time for this year’s season, it will be a joy to watch both females battle it out on the court in what can truly be described as a colossal battle.
