The Dallas Mavericks squared off against the Utah Jazz in their first game back from the All-Star break. At the Vivint Smart Home Arena, the Mavericks seemed to firmly assert themselves. At halftime, they were leading the Jazz by 7 points on the back of their superstar, Luka Doncic’s 23 points and 11 assists.
Likewise, Spencer Dinwiddie, coming off the Mavericks bench also scored 20 points to impress the Mavericks fans yet again. Dwight Powell had a high-scoring game too, with 22 points. But the Mavericks lost control of the game in an underwhelming 3rd quarter and were outscored by 10 points.
Still not out of the game at the start of the 4th quarter, the Mavericks battled on. However, Utah Jazz’s leading scorer Donovan Mitchell turned on the heat to score 33 points. Similarly, defensive stalwart Rudy Gobert recorded 17 rebounds to go with 14 points and clamp down on the Mavericks.
The Jazz managed to successfully close out the game and win a crucial game.

Both teams are jostling for the 4th seed in the Western Conference and will look to play hard to win this game. Subsequently, increasing their chances of securing home-court advantage in the playoffs. Although the availability of Luka Doncic is questionable, the Mavericks showed their mettle without him in their last win against the Sacramento Kings.
The Jazz will rely on Mitchell and Gobert to pull out clutch performances, but will ultimately fall short. The Mavericks’ superior bench strength will play a key part in this matchup. This time around, the Dallas Mavericks will win on home court and continue their surging form as they put the rest of the league on notice.
