NBA fans and sports fans alike would have undoubtedly heard about Usain Bolt. The Jamaican sprinter is a freak athlete and is considered by many to be the fastest man alive. As we all know, basketball is a game that relies heavily on factors like speed and transition.

With that being said, one must certainly want to know more about Bolt and whether he ever tried his hand at playing basketball. After all, he held the world record for 100 meters, 200 meters, and 4 x 100 meters when professionally competing. Therefore, it is quite possible that he would be able to dominate basketball. Add to that, his height with him being listed at 6’5 and he could have just as likely turned out to be an NBA player.

What is Usain Bolt’s net worth?

It turns out that despite loving basketball from ever since he was a child, Bolt did not pursue a career in the sport and turned his attention towards others like cricket and football. As his coaches found discovered his incredible abilities at running and track and field, he turned into a full-fledged sprinter competing at the highest level.

As a result of this, Bolt earned an incredible amount of fame and success across the world. Even after his retirement from sprinting, Usain still has a net worth of around $90 million. This was primarily through his multiple races and endorsements over the years.

Nonetheless, basketball was a sport he truly loved. He revealed how he always passed a passion for the sport in an interview, “I haven’t played basketball in a while but for me it was something I did when I was a kid…I’m more into football, definitely. I go to Europe a lot, I get a lot more games but I do love basketball a lot.”

He was also given a chance to play in the NBA Celebrity game during the All-Star break back in 2013. Despite his impressive size and athleticism, he really wasn’t able to showcase a high level of play in the sport. In fact, during the all-star weekend, he was unable to dribble the ball faster across the court when compared to a much shorter Kevin Hart.

Usain Bolt could also easily dunk the basketball as he displayed during the Celebrity game. However, that was the only bucket he got in the game. This is despite playing for 29 minutes in that game. In any case, we can’t deny that Bolt is an incredible athlete and would have done well in basketball if he had really tried throughout his life.
