The NBA MVP award is one of the most prestigious individual awards in the league. Every player is aiming to put their best foot forward and take home these prestigious awards. Ever since the league began there have been a number of players who have been solid contenders for this award.
While some may have been robbed and some undeserving, the players who make the top 5 list completely deserve to sit on a throne. There are a number of legendary players on this list including the GOAT of the NBA, Michael Jordan.

Wilt Chamberlain had a stellar career in Philadelphia. The Philly Warriors drafted this Center in 1959 as a territorial pick. It was one of the best decisions by the team.
He is a two-time NBA champion and also won the NBA MVP award four times in his career. Wilt won the NBA MVP awards in 1960, 1966, 1967, and 1968.
3. Michael Jordan- 5 MVP awards
Michael Jordan is regarded as the GOAT of the NBA and he comes in at third on this list of the top 5 NBA MVPs. MJ won the awards in 1988, 1991, 1992, 1996, and 1998.
The Chicago Bulls drafted Michael Jordan. The star left a legacy in Chicago. To date, the city of Chicago is forever grateful for everything the GOAT has done for them.
2. Bill Russell- 5 NBA MVP awards
The second spot on this list sees Bill Russell sit comfortably with 5 MVP awards won in 1958, 1961, 1962, 1963, and 1965. The St.Louis Hawks drafted Bill Russell. He played for the Bostom Celtics and also went on to have a coaching stint with the team. He is an 11 time NBA champion and a 12 time NBA MVP all-star.

The NBA Veteran, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar tops the list with 6 MVP awards. The Milwaukee Bucks drafted this star in 1969. He also played for the Los Angeles Lakers.
This NBA star has also had a coaching history in the NBA. Kareem is a 6 time NBA champion and has won the NBA MVP Award 6 times in his career. The awards were won in 1971, 1972, 1974, 1976, 1977, and 1980.
