In NBA, there have been few relationships that were considered one of the best to exist. Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, Kobe Bryant, and Shaquille O’Neal, Kobe Bryant and LeBron James, and Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson are on the list. Apart from them, there was another partnership between LeBron James and Kyrie Irving.
However, LeBron’s and Kyrie’s relationship was one of the most complicated ones. From the 2014 to 2017 season, they played together in the Cleveland Cavaliers. While LeBron left the Miami Heat to join the Cavaliers, Kyrie was already a part of the team. Following this, Kyrie Irving also qualified for his first-ever NBA playoffs in 2015.
While playing together for three seasons, people expected them to deliver the best partnership, and they did. However, their relationship off-court was not that good. Kyrie who was emerging as a player in the Cavaliers was not happy with LeBron’s dominating nature as a senior. But despite this, the two together won an NBA championship for the Cavaliers in 2016.
Kyrie Irving and LeBron James won one NBA title with the Cleveland Cavaliers
However, Kevin Love, LeBron James, and Kyrie Irving of the Cavaliers became a team of 3. Together they qualified for three straight NBA Finals and also won a championship. Thus, let’s take a look at the 2016 NBA championship game.
In the 2016 NBA Finals, the Cleveland Cavaliers of the Eastern Conference defeated the NBA champions Golden State Warriors of the Western Conference. The Cavaliers took a win 4-3 over the Warriors. Apart from this, LeBron and Kyrie together scored 41 points each in Game 5, with the Cavaliers clinching a 112-97 win.
Following this in Game 6, they gave a combined score of 64 points, and the Cavaliers secured a 115-101 win. Next, in Game 7, Kyrie’s move over Stephen Curry and LeBron’s block on Iguodala led the Cavaliers toward the win. Thus, the Cavaliers became the first team in the history of the NBA to make a sensational comeback from a 3-1 deficit in the NBA Finals.
However, in 2017, Kyrie was traded to the Boston Celtics and LeBron was traded to his current team Lakers. Today both have become quite successful players in their respective teams.
