Michael Jordan is an NBA legend that fans are still crazy about decades after his retirement from the NBA. We all know about the accolades the Chicago Bulls star earned throughout his career. He is undefeated in the NBA Finals and won 6 titles.

Not only that, MJ made a lot of business moves in order to develop his business and financial resume. This would certainly make sense considering that athletes spend only a part of their lives in the league and there is a lot of life to be lived after it.

As we all know, Jordan undoubtedly did well in the business world and currently has a net worth of around $1.7 billion. Fans might be interested in finding out how much he earned in 2022.

Michael Jordan reportedly made $600 million in 2022

We can never be absolutely certain regarding the numbers as not everything is made clear to the public. However, Jordan is said to have made around $600 million in 2022. These are incredible figures that many players will not dream of making throughout their careers. However, MJ managed to make it happen through two primary sources of revenue.

DID YOU KNOW: Michael Jordan earned “only” $90 million as an NBA player for the Chicago Bulls during his winning basketball career but Forbes values his current net worth at $1.7 billion, making him the richest retired athlete in the world?

The first one was his Air Jordan shoe brand. This was a subsidiary of Nike and allowed Michael Jordan to catapult in terms of wealth due to his incredible popularity and reach. He had signed a deal with Nike along the lines that he would be given 5% of the revenue generated by the Jordan brand once it crossed $5 billion.

That day came in 2022 and Michael Jordan received an impressive $256 million payday. Considering that the brand is still growing and bringing massive revenue, we can expect MJ to collect more checks in the future.

His other reason for financial success in 2022 was the growth of the Charlotte Hornets. We remember that Jordan bought the franchise all the way back in 2010 for around $175 million. While the franchise has not seen much success in the postseason, it has still increased in worth dramatically since then and is estimated to be around $2.4 billion today.

Despite selling some shares to investors, Michael Jordan is still the majority owner and even bought back some of those shares later. All of this led to him generating around $600 million in 2022. The numbers certainly seem to fluctuate at times and Jordan had a net worth of 2.2 billion in 2022. He must have lost some money this year. However, we are sure he will be able to make it back.
