LeBron James still feels grateful to his father despite having no relationship or bond with him throughout the NBA star’s life. As many fans might be aware, King James went through a plethora of struggles and difficulties during the early years of his life. This was clearly prior to the development of his basketball talent.
While LeBron didn’t have any direct connection to Anthony McClelland, that didn’t stop James from indirectly complimenting and thanking him. This would certainly puzzle NBA fans since we found out that Anthony was a criminal with charges such as theft and arson against him. Nonetheless, let us take a closer look at what LeBron had to say about his own father.
LeBron James credited Anthony McClelland for turning him into a successful person
In the interest of full disclosure, King James actually made this post almost a decade ago. It was during his time with the Miami Heat that LeBron finally managed to win back-to-back NBA titles. It must have clearly been an emotional time considering that he had been criticized heavily for being unable to do so up to that point in his career.
Some fans even went far enough to take shots at LeBron. Especially during the years when he fell short of winning a championship. Ugly personal comments involving family and other personal aspects of James’ life were coming to the forefront.
Since he managed to win and overcome several obstacles, LeBron made a post on Instagram that indirectly addressed his father and credited him for the 4x NBA champion’s success. The post included a thoughtful caption through which the NBA star envisioned what his life would be like if his father was around.
“Like, Wow, Dad, you know what, I don’t know you, I have no idea who you are, but because of you is part of the reason who I am today. The fuel I use- you not being here- it’s part of the reason I grew up to be who I am. it’s part of the reason why I want to be hands-on with my endeavors…So me in a position allowing people around me to grow, that maybe wouldn’t have happened if I had two parents, two sisters, a dog, and a picket fence, you know.”

One can’t help but admire King James after hearing this thought process. Despite having undergone hardships invariably caused by his father, he was still able to thank him for inadvertently turning LeBron into the successful person he is today.
