LeBron James, the all-time scoring leader has his first movie released, Shooting Stars. The movie is based on James’ high school teammates, as the King came to the NBA right out of high school. At age 18, LeBron was playing among professionals. Not only James but also his friends went on to play professional basketball, though not in the NBA. One of his friends, Romeo Travis plays in the LNB, and to this day, is a very good friend of James.
The Fab 5 as every LeBron fan remembers, was James’ high school team’s nickname. Throughout his career, James has been in touch with his old friends. Romeo even rooted for James during the 2017-18 season, as he strongly believed that the MVP award originally belonged to James. Though Harden, the real MVP who put up 40+ points every other night, took the award for himself. Though miles apart, Travis supports James like a best friend.
Romeo Travis is loyal to his soil
Following the NBA award ceremony in 2018, Travis went over to his Instagram, addressing the internet of a more deserving player. James had a great season that year, having led his team to the Finals. LeBron averaged 27 points, 9 assists, and 8 rebounds in the 2017-18 season, playing 82 games and leading the league in minutes played.
At the time, James had spent enough time in Cleveland, as he entered free agency. Fans anticipated LeBron’s decision, as he later revealed that he will be joining the Lakers. Travis had gone through a similar incident.
Romeo also grew up in Akron, Ohio, and had love and loyalty toward his city. On hearing James’ decision Travis wasn’t so happy, but knew why James did what he did. “I can’t be a Lakers fan,” Travis said. “As much as the Lakers people love Kobe, that’s as much as we don’t like Kobe.
“It’s not personal, but the way they love Kobe, the Kobe stans—I troll them as much as I can on Twitter,” Travis told Bleacher Report. Not everyone is a fan of the Lakers, though following James’ arrival, his loyal fanbase followed him to the city of Angels.
Travis did show his strong dislike against the team, though in the end accepted the fact that from a player’s perspective, ultimately he would do what’s best for him. Romeo is also mentioned in the latest movie, Shooting Stars, as it will uncover the story of James’ teammates as well.
