Kevin Durant and Draymond Green were both parts of the Golden State Warriors when the team reached its prime. The roster was star-studded. The Golden State Warriors also went back to back when they won championships in 2017 and 2018. The chase for a three-peat was ended by the Toronto Raptors and that was the last time Kevin Durant played for the Warriors. Many blame the beef between Kevin Durant and Draymond Green to be the reason for KD’s departure.
What caused the beef between Kevin Durant and Draymond Green?
During the 2018-19 season the Golden State Warriors were having a spectacular run. After holding a record of 11-2 the Warriors went up against the Los Angeles Clippers. The game was all tied up at 106. Draymond Green got his hands on the last rebound before the clock ran out. He somehow refused to pass the ball to Kevin Durant which led to overtime.
This incident of ball-hogging saw KD and Green go at each other while on the court. Cousins had to physically drag Green away. The players were yelling at each other and this led to a lot of tension in the locker room and affected team chemistry. After the season ended, Kevin Durant left the Warriors to join the Brooklyn Nets.
KD and Green blame the Warriors Management for not handling the beef
Kevin Durant and Green sat down for an interview called the ‘Chip‘. The two former teammates spoke about a lot of interesting topics. They talked about Kevin Durant leaving the Oklahoma City Thunder and even why Kevin Durant doesn’t have kids. The one topic that took the internet by storm was the two stars clearing the air about the infamous 2018 beef between them
The two stars spoke about how the Golden State Warriors management were the main ones to be blamed. The situation was not handled properly. KD spoke about how instead of trying to sort the issue out, the management just brushed it under a rug.
It was the way that everybody—Steve Kerr—acted like it didn’t happen. Bob Myers just tried to just discipline you and think that would put the mask over everything
Draymond Green responded saying that he completely agrees with Kevin Durant. The Warriors management did not handle the issue well which led to the end of a dynasty.
I told them right then and there, I said ‘y’all about to f*** this up!’ I said, ‘the only person that can make this right is me and K and there’s nothing that y’all can do. Y’all are going to f*** this up, And, in my opinion, they f***ed it up!
Kevin Durant and Draymond Green are back to being brothers and they have made it clear that there is no beef between the two superstars. They are fresh from a gold medal from the Tokyo Olympics and are looking to go back to playing for their respective teams in the upcoming NBA season.
