Wednesday star Jenna Ortega has been making headlines for all reasons these days. One reason is related to her remarkable portrayal of Wednesday Addams in the hit Netflix series, which has received high praise from critics and fans around the world. Another one is an entirely different one altogether.
To suggest that Twitter is a lawless environment full of false information that travels quickly and with no regulation would be a big understatement. The microblogging platform is filled with people just fabricating stories at will for their own recreation. It particularly enjoys making up the unbelievable regarding the most popular celebrities of the moment.

The latest victim of this seems to be Jenna herself. Fans seemed to have turned her into meme material as of late. On Dec. 1, Twitter user ‘ssevngmjn’ posted a tweet claiming that Ortega revealed she was obsessed with the K-pop group Stray Kids. The tweet also contained a fake quote attributed to the actress. After the tweet went viral and received over 50,000 likes, a new meme was born.
Are the claims about Jenna Ortega real?
The “Jenna Ortega says/reveals” meme has been all over the internet recently. Twitter users have shown no signs of restraint while making up stories about Ortega’s choices, and a few celebrities, most notably Brie Larson, also fell for it.

A fan tweeted that Jenna Ortega supposedly revealed her favorite Marvel character was Captain Marvel. In a since-deleted tweet, Larson invited Ortega to make an appearance on her Youtube channel and teach her some dance moves. It’s obvious that Larson wasn’t aware of the whole meme situation, and fell victim to it.

The meme has also extended to the NBA world. A Twitter user named ‘Book1tt’, who is apparently a diehard Devin Booker fan, tweeted, “Actor Jenna Ortega reveals in a new interview that her favorite NBA player is Devin Booker ‘I love watching Devin Booker play. I believe he’s one of the best players in the NBA and I believe he deserves to be a Starter in the 2023 All-Star game.'”

The tweet received a lot of engagement and fans were left wondering if Booker indeed was Ortega’s favorite NBA player. We know now that that is definitely not the case. It’s just a Booker/Suns fan making up an Ortega quote as per the trend and trying to make a case for his all-star selection.
This and almost all the rest of the tweets that contain unverified quotes attributed to Jenna Ortega are just plain misinformation. The internet loves lying, but it is upon a wise user to stay wary of false information. Devin Booker just might be Jenna’s favorite NBA player, but not until she says it herself. For the time being, we’re not even sure if she even watches the NBA at all.
Regarding his All-Star selection, that again might not happen as the Phoenix Suns star has hurt his chances by missing a lot of time with a groin injury. He’s averaging 27/4.6/5.6 for the season but hasn’t seen the court for almost a month now.
