Kyle Lowry is a point guard in the NBA. He was drafted No. 24 overall in the first round by the Memphis Grizzlies. After his move to the Toronto Raptors in 2012, he has been a crucial part of the franchise ever since. He teamed up with DeMar DeRozan and formed the ultimate NBA bromance in the east. Lowry bid farewell to the north and moved to ‘South Beach’ this offseason. Toronto decides to honor their man in an exceptional way.

‘The North remembers’: The end of an era

After 9 seasons, 10540 points, and a championship, one of the greatest ever to play for the Raptors decides to take his talents elsewhere. He has the second-most points in franchise history second only to his buddy DeRozan. Kyle Lowry also takes with him the franchise records of assists, steals, and three-point field goals. Toronto Raptors deciding to retire his number is a very huge gesture. Even after legends like Vince Carter, who was even nicknamed ‘Air Canada’, played for them; Lowry will be the first Raptor to see his jersey hung from the rafters.

The 2018-19 season was a breakthrough for the Toronto Raptors. After failing to LeBron James multiple times in the east, they finally reached the conference finals against the Bucks. They defeated the 76ers in the East semis in 7 games, and at the end of regulation, Kawhi Leonard hit a buzzer-beater. ‘The shot’ that changed franchise history. Toronto’s championship run was just because they traded DeMar DeRozan and Jakob Poeltl to the Spurs for Kawhi Leonard and Danny Green.

A great run finally comes to an end

Kyle Lowry expressed his immense gratitude to the city of Toronto, he said they’d always remain in his heart. he thanked the fans for their support. He tweeted, ‘Thank u for everything Toronto, Canada’ on his Twitter and wrote a heartfelt goodbye message on Instagram.

The Raptors organization and the fans also said they’re grateful for his service and wished him good luck in Miami. Lowry can play a major part in the heat roster as he is a versatile point guard and is a good shooter from beyond the arc. His versatility on both offense and defense can play a major run for Miami looking for success this season.
