A lot of players look to get tattoos at a certain age. Coming into the league, not a lot of players used to have tattoos already, though these days, almost every other player has art on their body. Tattoos hold a special meaning behind them, as to what inspired the player to have something that would last forever in their memory.
Such is LeBron James’ reasons for the numerous tattoos that he has. James has tattoos all over his body, from his calves to his upper back.
Each tattoo holds a meaning, as LeBron has more than 20 tattoos. Some of them include tribute tattoos like ‘Tribute to Kobe Bryant’. Following the tragic death of Hall of Famer and NBA legend, Kobe Bryant, James got a tattoo of Mamba which also presents Kobe’s two jersey numbers, 24 and 8. There are some more interesting tattoos the King has. His tattoo collection also includes two lions.

Coming into the league, one of the earliest tattoos James had was the ‘Witness’ tattoo on his right calf. Over the years, LeBron went on to add more tattoos, which included a lion’s head on his right bicep and a winged lion on his chest.
As for the Lion Head tattoo, the lion signifies strength, courage, and leadership. It goes without saying that James has always played with his all while being the leader of his pack. This tattoo does symbolize the traits that are James’ strong suit. Another one of tattoos that includes a lion, is the one on his chest.
James has a Winged Lion tattooed on his chest which symbolizes James’ aura throughout the years. Known as the King, James knows how to lead his pack and stay ahead of his opponents. His dominant game also shows how he resembles the strength of a lion.
Having the king of the jungle tattooed on him twice while also keeping up with the meaning just tells how accurate James’ tattoos are to his personality. Some of his other famous tattoos include the ‘Chosen 1’ tattooed on his upper back, ‘The Akron Hammer’ tattoo on his left bicep, and Gloria’s tattoo on his right shoulder which is a tribute to his mother, Gloria.
