NBA Matchup: Los Angeles Lakers vs Los Angeles Clippers
Date: 25th February 2022
Time: 10:00 pm ET
The NBA’s return from its All-Star break features the much-anticipated Los Angeles Derby. The Los Angeles Lakers take on the Los Angeles Clippers at the newly-christened Crypto.com Arena.
Who won the last time they played?
The 2 teams last met earlier in February, and the Lakers were without their main man, LeBron James. In a game that the Clippers led for the first 3 quarters, the Lakers rallied late in the 4th quarter to take the lead again. Led by Anthony Davis’ 30 points and 17 rebounds, the Lakers scored 28 in the 4th quarter but still fell short in a thrilling finish to the game.
For the Clippers, Marcus Morris top-scored with 29 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists. Serge Ibaka also put in a solid shift with 20 points and 8 rebounds. However, it was the breakout star, Reggie Jackson, who played the biggest hand in their win. Not only did Jackson record 25 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists, he also scored the clutch game-winning shot.
Los Angeles Lakers vs Los Angeles Clippers prediction
The Clippers have had some strong wins in their run of games before the All-Star break. They have won games against the Dallas Mavericks, and title contenders, Golden State Warriors. They find themselves in better stead going against the 9th ranked Lakers and will look to seal a higher berth against their city rivals by winning their 3rd game against them this season.
The Lakers might not have what it takes to stop the well-drilled Tyronn Lue side. Especially, not without their stalwart, LeBron James. The Clippers will see them out tonight comfortably, and collect the win.
