NBA fans might certainly want to know how tall Luka Doncic actually is. The Dallas Mavericks star is playing MVP-level basketball this season and is keeping his team competitive in the Western Conference. As we all know height plays a huge role in calculating an athlete’s base potential in basketball.
While there have certainly been smaller players who challenged this stereotype, it still holds true for most. That would make sense considering that height is extremely useful on the defensive end of the floor and not having enough of it would make one a liability on the court. With that being said, let us find out exactly how tall Doncic is and how he compares to the other Dallas Mavericks players on his team.
Only 5 players on the Dallas Mavericks are taller than Luka Doncic
Luka is undoubtedly a large young man. He is listed at 2.01 meters. That translates to roughly around 6 feet and 7in. As we all know, he puts his height to good use and is quite capable at both rebounding and assisting the basketball to go along with his size.
The statistics undoubtedly prove it. Doncic is averaging 33 points, 8.9 rebounds, and 8.4 assists. While there are certainly point guards across the league that can facilitate the ball and assist as well as Luka, very few are able to average almost 9 rebounds a game to go along with their other numbers.
Luka is able to dominate in both the assists and rebounding categories. That is because he plays the point guard position despite being large enough to play power forward or center. It would interest fans to know that there are 5 players currently on the Dallas Mavericks roster who are listed to be taller than Doncic.
Davis Betans and Maxi Kleber are both listed as slightly taller than Doncic. They are both 6’10 and are around 3 inches taller than Luka. Then we have Dwight Powell and Christian Wood who are also in the same height range and are 6’10 and 6’9 respectively.
Finally, the tallest player currently with the Dallas Mavericks is JaVale McGee. He is clearly on the back end of his career being 35 years old. JaVale has been averaging 3.9 points playing only around 7 minutes for the Mavs this season. While he is certainly the largest player on the Mavs, it is difficult to dispute that Doncic is the best player there by a long shot.
