Tonight at the American Airlines Center, we have witnessed history. Luka Doncic set the court on fire with his historic triple-double performance against the New York Knicks. It’s the first time in the Mavericks’ history a player has scored 60 points. It is also the first, where a player has put up a triple-double with such numbers, as 60 points, 21 rebounds, and 10 assists. Truly, Doncic is a legend in the making.
The Mavericks trailed behind the Knicks for the entirety of the game only for Luka to intentionally miss a free throw. Doncic intentionally missed a free throw, which ended in a loose ball. The 23-year-old then hit a jumper to force overtime with only a second remaining on the clock. The regulation time score was 115-115, the Mavs eventually took the game in OT to win 126-121.
What a night for the Mavericks. It is one of the best performances in their history, Doncic capped it off with 21 rebounds, his career high. After yet another stunning display last night against the Knicks he did something even the great Michael Jordan couldn’t do. The win against the Knicks moved them up the Western Conference to 6th place and have a 4-game winning streak.
Jordan never did this. I repeat; MICHAEL JORDAN NEVER DID THIS!!!

This is one of the statement performances from the Slovenian to cement his candidature for the MVP. If it weren’t for Doncic, the Mavs would be way below their current spot. Luka has proved time and time again that he can be the next face of the NBA. Luka drew comparisons with Michael Jordan at the start of the season. If he keeps performing at this level for the rest of the season, he’ll surely lift the first Michael Jordan Trophy.
Is Luka Doncic the best NBA player right now?
The NBA is home to many talented players, and it is difficult to compare players across different positions and styles of play. However, Luka can be considered in the category of being the best player in the league at the moment. It is the second time Luka has put up a 50+ points performance in his last 4 games for the Mavs. Everyone can agree that Luka has been extremely consistent this season.
Never even dropped that in 2K

Luka, if not the best, is one of the best, at the moment. His stats don’t lie either, he is second on the scoring list, averaging 32.8 points per game. Complimenting his scoring, he is also averaging 8.7 assists and 8.3 rebounds. Luka in each of his past seasons led the Mavs to the playoffs, and this season won’t be any different. If the Mavs make the best use of Doncic’s form, they could end up going deep into the playoffs.
