In the wake of his amazing physical transformation over the years, NBA fans are assuming that Giannis Antetokounmpo has used PEDs just like LeBron James has been accused multiple times throughout his NBA career.
As we all know, LeBron and Giannis are considered two of the most physically gifted athletes that the game of basketball has ever seen. Unfortunately, their hard work and dedication aren’t always taken at face value and there are several critics who claim that they have engaged in the use of performance-enhancing drugs.
While it is certainly possible for LeBron to have taken PEDs at some point in his career considering his incredible durability and longevity when compared to other NBA stars, we should wonder if the same holds true for the Greek Freak.
Fans opine that Giannis Antetokounmpo is on steroids following an incredible physical transformation
Not many NBA fans will be able to remember what Giannis looked like when he first entered the league. He was the absolute opposite of the Greek Freak that we know and admire today. Antetokounmpo came into the NBA during the 2013-2014 season at just 19 years of age. Despite having admirable length and size, he was simply too skinny and frail to be considered a real threat to the other large NBA stars.
It was also fairly difficult for Giannis to score efficiently over others as a result. During his first year in the league, Giannis averaged only 6.8 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.9 assists. This was despite the fact that he was playing an average of 25 minutes per game in his first year.
While several people wrote him off and dismissed him, Giannis Antetokounmpo continued working on his game and more importantly spent a significant amount of time and effort on his nutrition and weight room training. As a result, he gained an incredible amount of muscle within about 8 years in the league.

Now, some fans feel that the only explanation for his radical physical changes must be steroids. However, it is highly unlikely that Giannis engaged in drug use. He has never failed a drug test and doesn’t look like someone who would cheat the process.

Moreover, drugs like steroids and other PEDs start working incredibly fast and the changes appear almost instantaneously. However, an instant change to Giannis’ body never occurred. It took many years for him to achieve this physical state. Perhaps, that indicates that he did things the right way and has not used PEDs.
