The NBA All-Star Mountain dew 3-point contest saw a number of talented players from around the league go up against each other. The list of participants included Trae Young from the Atlanta Hawks, Karl-Anthony Towns from the Timberwolves, and Luke Kennard from the Los Angeles Clippers. There was also two-time slam-dunk contest champion, Zach LaVine, first-time all-star, Fred Vanvleet.
Karl-Anthony Towns decided to prove why he can be the best big man shooter in the NBA. He did it with style and set a new record in the process.

The first round saw all players take shots from six spots on the court. There were three normal racks, one money ball reach, and two Mountain Dew power balls. The Mountain Dew balls were each worth 3 points.
Desmond Bane, Zach LaVine, and Fred VanVleet did not have much luck at the contest and quickly got eliminated. The leader of the first round was Los Angeles Clippers star, Luke Kennard. He had 28 points in the first round.

The finals saw Karl-Anthony Towns, Luke Kennard and Trae Young take the stage. Karl-Anthony Towns was aiming to become the best big man shooter and he performed incredibly well in the finals as he put up 29 points beating Devin Booker’s record.
Trae Young put up 26 while Luke Kennard had 26 as well. The 29 points put forward by KAT is the new record for the final round of the 3-point contest. The record was previously held by Phoenix Suns star, Devin Booker

Karl-Anthony Towns from the Minnesota Timberwolves went on to win the three-point challenge. He was confident with a beautiful shooting stroke. KAT even said it before the contest, that he was only going to lose if someone outscored him.
In his first appearance in the Mountain Dew 3-point contest and Karl Anthony is taking home a trophy. He was presented his trophy by none other than Ray Allen.
