The 2021 NBA champion Giannis Antetokounmpo has added a big investment to his remarkable portfolio by taking a portion of ownership in the Los Angeles Golf Club. The Los Angeles Golf Club is one of the six teams that will participate in the Tiger Woods Golf League.
TGL is a new high-tech golf league established by the great golfers Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy. It has received funding from Antetokounmpo and his brothers Thanasis, Kostas, and Alex.
Arthur Blank, owner of the Atlanta Falcons and Manchester United, owns the Atlanta squad, while TGL’s Boston club is controlled by Fenway Sports Group, the parent company of the Boston Red Sox and Liverpool. On social media, Antetokounmpo stated: “We want to make golf our own and for everybody. We couldn’t be more excited to shape the future of this sport.”

Giannis’ late father, Charles, who played professionally in Germany and Nigeria, was paid homage by the family investment. The LA Golf Club is the newest team and sport that the 2021 Finals MVP has added to his portfolio. Giannis also posted a little team teaser featuring himself on X to introduce his latest investment.
Giannis Antetokounmpo has previously invested in 2 other major league sports teams
Antetokounmpo’s co-ownership of LAGC marks the Greek star’s third investment in a sports organization. Following his acquisition of holdings in the Major League Baseball’s Milwaukee Brewers and the Major League Soccer’s Nashville SC.
The MLB and MLS teams that the basketball player has already made big stakes in are both very successful leagues. The Greek star acquired an undisclosed interest in the Major League Baseball team Milwaukee Brewers in 2021. The Bucks forward increased his investments earlier this year when he and his brothers bought a stake in Nashville SC.
He also went to the League Cup final between Nashville and Inter Miami, which included Lionel Messi.
The six-team TGL will be held at a cutting-edge golf course in Florida and is scheduled to start its inaugural season in January 2024. Franchises in Boston and Atlanta, which are controlled by the Fenway Sports Group (FSG) and billionaire Arthur Blank, respectively, in addition to LA, have already been announced. The league has not yet revealed its broadcast partner.
