The Los Angeles Lakers are in quite a predicament. Despite making several changes to the roster, the team is still struggling to get wins despite having both Anthony Davis and LeBron James. NBA fans will be aware of where the Lakers currently stand. They hold a record of 30 wins and 33 losses, giving them the 11th seed in the Western Conference.
Given that they have only around 20 games left this season, there is no time to waste if they have postseason aspirations. However, both Anthony Davis and LeBron James don’t look completely healthy for this final stretch of the NBA season.
We already know that LeBron is suffering from a foot injury and could potentially miss a few weeks. However, not many fans know what is going on with AD. Thus, let us take a deeper look at what injury Davis is going through.
Anthony Davis has a stress injury on his right foot
In a somewhat amusing turn of events, both the main stars for the Los Angeles Lakers have very similar kinds of injuries. Anthony Davis did not suit up for his team when they went on the road to face the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Thankfully, his team was able to secure this much-needed win in his absence. While all of that is well and good, fans were puzzled to find out that AD would be missing this game at the last moment. According to the report released by the Lakers, Davis is undergoing a stress injury on his right foot.
To those who do not know, a stress injury occurs when a toll is taken on the body for a period of time. It was initially unclear what caused this injury to the Lakers star. However, many are presuming that it occurred all the way back during the middle of December in a game against Nikola Jokic and the top-seeded Denver Nuggets.
It is also unclear exactly how much this foot is bothering him as we did see him in action against Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies. However, he didn’t play the next game against OKC and merely watched from the sidelines as his team won.
At the moment, it is still unclear how bad this injury is or how long it will keep AD out of action. According to the injury report, he is listed as day-to-day for their next game against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
While his team was able to prevail against OKC without him, it will undoubtedly need him to win against Anthony Edwards and the Timberwolves. We hope that AD’s one-game break helped enough and that he is ready for this game.
