Based on recent events, the entire world was expecting Stephen A. Smith to weigh in on the Kevin Porter Jr. controversy. Earlier this week, the NBA star was arrested for physically assaulting his girlfriend at the Millennium Hilton Hotel in New York. He was released after paying a bail of $75,000 and is due to visit the court on October 16, 2023. Later, Porter pled not guilty to second-degree assault and strangulation charges.
26-year-old Kysre Gondrezick stated in her report to the police that Porter was out the previous night. And that he arrived during the early parts of the morning. It was reported that Gondrezick was asleep when Porter arrived, leaving him locked outside the room. But he entered with the help of hotel security after which he began to assault her. Sources claim that she was discovered only after she managed to escape the room. Gondrezick was found running down the hallway covered in blood.

The WNBA star was rushed to the NYU Langone Medical Center and treated for her injuries. Eventually, the medical staff later confirmed that she suffered from a fractured neck vertebra and a laceration over her eye. But Gondrezick was lucky, to say the least as a broken neck could sometimes result in paralysis or even death. However, details are yet to be revealed about her condition.

Coming back to Stephen A. Smith and what he had to say about the incident. The ESPN commentator has always been vocal about issues as such. On the latest episode of his show, Smith spoke on behalf of fathers around the world. Additionally, he sent out a stern warning to the Houston Rockets standout saying, “I’m talking to you as a father of two daughters. If my daughters are listening to this, they know what daddy’s about to say. It’s not a popular thing to say… but law enforcement is going to be necessary for anybody that puts their hands on my daughter. I promise you that.”

“Yes, I will do you harm. Anybody… any man that puts his hands on my daughter, it’s going to be a problem. And I’m not going to say it cause I want to cut out and weave out who knows what you’re supposed to be saying over the digital, streaming stratosphere. As opposed to FCC… I’m not going to say what I would do. But look into my eyes… any man, it’s my daughter. It’s a wrap. Make no mistake about it,” he concluded.
Stephen A. Smith was severely angered by the incident and doesn’t seem too happy about it at all. Even Gondrezick’s sister, Kalabrya had openly sent a threat to Kevin Porter Jr. hours after the incident took place. The police and the NBA are currently investigating the issue, attempting to narrow it down to the cause.
