LeBron James is the richest NBA player in the league currently. The only player richer than him is Michael Jordan, who is now retired from the NBA. However, as we’ve seen in the past, King James does not spend his wealth on things that don’t matter to him. It is the same situation with Twitter verification or in simple terms having a blue tick alongside your Twitter username.
The new owner of Twitter, Elon Musk, has given power to the people to enjoy verified services to the general public. He is doing so by making the verification or the blue tick available to the public via a paid subscription. His decision has its benefits as well as disadvantages. The new subscription system makes it more difficult to ensure the legitimate spread of information. However, with that said LeBron disagrees with the new subscription setup.
Twitter’s current lords & peasants system for who has or doesn’t have a blue checkmark is bullshit.
Power to the people! Blue for $8/month.

Musk has given his justification for the new subscription method on his Twitter account. “Twitter’s current lords & peasants system for who has or doesn’t have a blue checkmark is bullshit. Power to the people! Blue for $8/month,” Musk tweeted. However, some high-profile personalities have rejected to pay for the subscription to keep the blue tick. However, King James still has the Twitter verified status or blue tick alongside his username.
LeBron James escapes Elon Musk’s greedy plan with Twitter
When the decision was made by the owner of Twitter, James took to Twitter to express his decision. James who opposed the idea of paying for the verification status. “Welp guess my blue [checkpoint] will be gone soon cause if you know me i ain’t paying the 5,” James tweeted on his official Twitter account.
Welp guess my blue ✔️ will be gone soon cause if you know me I ain’t paying the 5. 🤷🏾♂️

Despite this, LeBron continues to be a verified user of Twitter. Despite numerous people losing out on their verification status, James continues to be verified. This has raised questions about James having connections with Musk. On April 21, 2023, Musk vouched to be paying for some personalities to keep their verification status, out of whom James could be one of them.
I’m paying for a few personally

It simply doesn’t make sense from the new owner, as he contradicts his statement in the above tweet. Nonetheless, we can say that James is certainly one of those many few who continue to enjoy the verification status without having to pay a dime.
