Bronny James recently made his debut for the University of Southern California after a gruesome summer. The 19-year-old faced an athlete’s biggest nightmare after suffering from a cardiac arrest back in July. Questions surrounding his likelihood of performing again arose as they would have in any other case. Athletes who have gone through such ordeals have never had a great comeback. However, James is still fighting his way back into stardom.
Being the son of an NBA legend like LeBron James comes with its own set of challenges. But Bronny has never been one to back down from a fight throughout his entire basketball career. The doctors were unable to determine the cause of the cardiac arrest. They had to conduct various tests for weeks before they pinned it down to a congenital heart defect. This issue is something that is commonly found in individuals from birth.

Bronny James went through heart surgery to repair the issue and took a while off from basketball to recover. However, he made his debut against Long Beach State on December 11. The USC Trojans recently faced Auburn and the opposition’s fans were out for blood when Bronny showed up for shoot around before the game. Fans present on the bleachers booed the basketball prodigy while he worked out.
LeBron James shared an uplifting thought on Bronny James’ return
LeBron James has been standing right next to Bronny James over the last couple of months while he was in recovery. The Los Angeles Lakers player took it upon himself to help Bronny through his rough patch, taking him to hospitals and being with him through his struggles. Following his college debut game against Long Beach, James had a few words of encouragement for his young lad.
He said, “It was everything for my family. An emotional, draining day. I think the most important thing, who cares about the win or the loss, the kid was standing tall and standing strong at the end of the game.” LeBron also continued to say, “The kid was standing tall, standing strong at the end of the game. That is a blessing in its own right. That is a win, he’s won at life.”
Unfortunately, Bronny James could not help the Trojans secure a win against Long Beach State. Despite the setback, he managed to showcase his incredible versatility on the court by recording 4 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists along with two steals and a block. The Trojans are currently ranked 9th in the PAC-12 conference with a record of 5-4.
