Bronny James seems to be enjoying life right now as he took part in the McDonald’s All-American slam dunk contest. The five-star recruit put on a show and the internet went nuts. He follows in LeBron James‘s footsteps, who was also part of the dunk contest back in 2003.
After being named in the All-American lineup, Bronny also decided to take part in the dunk contest. LeBron was also part of the 2003 All-American lineup and he was named the MVP of the event. Bronny has had a great season with Sierra Canyon and was selected to be a part of the lineup. And just like his father, he also decided to take part in the dunk contest.
He was one of the favorites heading into the contest and he did not disappoint. Bronny’s first dunk was a reverse windmill, which earned plaudits from around the world. LeBron was hyped seeing Bronny show off his bounces and he went to Twitter to show his love for his son.

After that, Bronny got his brother Bryce James involved in the dunk contest. Both Bronny and Bryce are expected to be in the NBA one day and Bryce is rated as one of the top players in his class. And the younger son of LeBron even had a massive growth spurt which puts him at the same height as his brother.
Bronny took a while to jump over Bryce, who is 6’6″. But he was eventually able to jump over his brother and throw down a powerful slam. LeBron was impressed with both his sons and this time he went to Instagram to rave about his boys. Bronny finished second among all participants and LeBron would be extremely proud of his eldest son.
LeBron James one-upped Bronny by winning the dunk contest
Bronny may have had a good show, but his dad put on a masterpiece. Back in 2003, LeBron had sent the country alight with his mesmerizing talent and ferocious power. He was also known for his thunderous dunks. And rightly so, LeBron decided to take part in the 2003 dunk contest which was held in his hometown of Ohio, Cleveland.
The arena was packed and everyone had come in to see LeBron. The King had indicated that he didn’t have anything specific planned and that he was just going to do whatever came to his mind.
His first two dunks were both out of the backboard and his second dunk the crowd’s breath away. He caught the ball mid-air and threw down his signature tomahawk jam. As a result of these two breathtaking dunks, he advanced to the finals.
LeBron then put on an exhibition in the finals, nailing all three dunks and taking home the trophy. After this, he went on the All-American game and took the MVP honors as well. And after that, the rest is history.
