SUMMARY
- Caitlin Clark of the Iowa Hawkeyes broke the NCAA Division 1 women’s basketball scoring record.
- Nike paid tribute to Clark's achievement with a slogan on her jersey.
The Iowa Hawkeyes clinched a massive double-digit win against the Michigan Wolverines at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. That’s not the only highlight for the Iowa players on February 15, 2024. The baton of the NCAA scoring record has been passed on, and its rightful owner is Caitlin Clark. Iowa’s star point guard etched her name into the NCAA Division 1 women’s basketball record tonight.
What’s astonishing is that the West Des Moines native surpassed the set record of 3,527 points in the first quarter. Clark recorded a three-pointer in the first quarter and set the new scoring record at a staggering 3,528 points.
Not only that, she is now the first Division player to record 3000+ points, 1000 assists, and 800 rebounds, according to the NCAA. The star guard finished the night with 49 points, 5 rebounds, and 13 assists in her 37 minutes on the hardwood.

After facing a 10-digit loss against Nebraska, this 17-point win against Michigan is a step to solidify the team’s position in the heated three-team race for the Big 10 title. Clark is averaging 32.1 points with 47.3% shooting from the deep and now stands at an arm’s length of Pete Maravich’s 3,667 career points.
And her jersey says it is all about breaking records. Nike has paid tribute to the new face of the WBB scoring champion with a ‘You break it, you own it’ slogan on the No. 22 jersey.
Where can I buy the new Caitlin Clark Nike jersey?
Caitlin Clark stepped foot on the court tonight and broke something. As usual, the customer (Clark in this case) had to buy what she broke. Apparently, it was not an item; she broke a record. And Nike decided to recognize the sheer skill and consistent effort of the 22-year-old Iowa product. The jersey says, “You break it, you own it.” It’s worth noting that one can find this unisex record-breaking T-shirt on Fanatics.com.

The T-shirt, however, is available in a black solid color with short sleeves and a crew neck. The white jersey was not set for sale during the writing of this article, it seems. The Hawkeye fans will remember this slogan for a long time, and often as they enter a store of a basketball arena, for Clark has broken records. And the former record holder seems content after passing on the baton.
Klese Plum seems very grateful to pass the baton to Caitlin Clark
Kelsey Plum, the former all-time scoring leader, recorded the threshold of 3,527 career points at Alaska Airlines Arena on February 25, 2017. The 5-foot-8 dynamo made the 6,775 fans gathered in the arena witness to the history-making performance. That night she delivered a 57-point masterpiece at the Alaska Airlines Arena.

In an interview with ESPN’s Michael Voepel in early February 2024, Plum said, “I am actually very grateful to pass that baton. I am very happy for her.” While the former record holder was affirmative about Clark’s ability to break the record, she also lent out some words of caution to the media. She advised the media not to associate her entire identity with her game and the record.
