Brittney Griner and Diana Taurasi have long fought beside each other. The latter is arguably one of the greatest players of all time in the WNBA while Griner is slowly entering the debate. Unfortunately, they were both separated for an entire year due to BG’s arrest in Russia. Griner visited Russia to play basketball for the UMMC Ekaterinburg team much like her teammate Taurasi as well.
Brittney, a two-time Olympic gold medalist and former WNBA Champion was faced with a sudden turn of events after being caught in possession of illegal substances. She was detained for 10 months and received a nine-year sentence. But in December 2022, the Russians agreed to release her in exchange for convicted criminal Viktor Bout. Griner reunited with her family, friends, and teammates.

The entire Phoenix Mercury roster is currently preparing itself to compete in the 2023 WNBA season. And the entire world has been eager to see Griner back in action. The Phoenix Mercury made a video asking Mercury players who were “the worst babysitter on the team” and the answers were interesting. Diana chose Brittney and said, “Do I have to explain that one?” This was a dig at BG because she most likely will let the children do anything they ever wanted. Head Coach Vanessa Nygaard had the same answer.
Does Brittney Griner have kids?
Brittney Griner is currently married to Cherelle, whom she had known since her Baylor University days. The two have been together for over seven years and they even got married a few years ago. However, before finding her forever home in Cherelle’s heart, BG was briefly married to another WNBA player named Glory Johnson.
They met during a basketball training camp and they immediately clicked. Griner and Johnson liked each other. Eventually, they got married in 2015 and Johnson gave birth to twin girls. According to sources, the twins were given birth prematurely. However, they were healthy and well. The couple decided to name their children Ava and Solei.
Things weren’t great between Brittney and Glory as they were once charged with domestic violence. This was before they had their children. After Johnson’s pregnancy announcement, Griner filed for the annulment of their marriage. She claimed that she was forced into marriage as well. They split in 2016 and Griner moved on to find love with Cherelle. Johnson and Griner have faced each other on the court a couple of times ever since. As per reports, Griner was asked to pay $2,516 per month in child support.
