Brittney Griner has been in the news for a while now. One could claim that being arrested and soon released via prisoner exchange has made her more popular than her WNBA career ever could. Some of us might already know she is married to another woman named Cherelle Griner.
However, does Brittney have children with Cherelle? This might seem like an absurd question considering that both of them are female. In any case, it turns out that Griner does have children, but not with Cherelle. People should undoubtedly want to know how many children BG has, with whom, and what became of that relationship.
Who is Brittney Griner’s ex-wife Glory Johnson?
Turns out that the 32-year-old Phoenix Mercury center was married before her life with Cherelle began. Moreover, it was with another former WNBA player. Glory Johnson. Glory is the same age as Brittney. She is a few months older. Johnson was drafted in the 2012 WNBA draft and selected as the 4th pick. She had an 8-year career in the WNBA. averaging 11.4 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 1.3 assists.
Glory and Brittney announced their engagement on August 14th, 2014. They soon got married on May 8th, 2015. Through a modern process known as “Vitro Fertilization,” Glory Johnson soon announced her pregnancy and sat out the 2015 NBA season.
Therefore, technically Brittney Griner has children as she was still married to Glory at the time of concealment. However, she did not give birth to the two children named Ava and Solei. Or have anything direct to do with the conception. Nonetheless, she is still technically a parent by law.
When Brittney Griner and Glory Johnson were accused of domestic abuse
Since Glory is Griner’s ex, it is clear that something went wrong in the relationship. Both BG and Glory were arrested for domestic violence in their home in Arizona. According to the reports, Griner suffered a bite and Johnson a bleeding lip, presumably from being punched in the face.
After this incident, Brittney pleads guilty to charges of “disorderly conduct stemming from domestic violence.” She was given a deal that included a 26-week of domestic violence counseling program. After she completed it, all the charges were dropped.
The WNBA even suspended both of the players for 7 games as a consequence of this altercation between the couple. They still got married after it happened but soon divorced and went their separate ways.
