SUMMARY
- Russell Westbrook confronted a fan who called him "Westbrick" ahead of the Clippers vs Hornets game.
- The veteran asked the fan not to disrespect his family name.
Russell Westbrook has put tremendous amounts of effort into his craft which is why he is who is he. Over the years, we’ve seen the veteran dominate numerous roles on a team. From scoring to defense and playmaking, Brodie has walked through everything there is to do on the floor. However, Westbrook has had some struggles in recent years which has tarnished his legacy. And fans some fans always find it exciting to gain pleasure out of a player’s worst days.
Ever since leaving the Oklahoma City Thunder, the former MVP hasn’t been the same. He had one good season averaging 22.2 points, 11.5 rebounds, and 11.7 assists per game with the Washington Wizards. But it all went downhill after assuming the role of a third option alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis. In all fairness, Russ had it coming his way considering how ball-dominant the other two are.
Russell Westbrook chirps back at his troll
Compared to other superstars in the league, Russell Westbrook’s shooting percentages are significantly lower. During a recent game between the LA Clippers and Charlotte Hornets, Westbrook encountered a heckler who trolled him for his inefficient shooting. The Hornets fan called him “Westbrick” during pregame warms. Westbrook has never been the type to drown out the noise, especially when it comes to his family’s name.
He confronted the heckler saying, “Don’t disrespect my name. Do you understand me? I don’t give a f**k.” We’ve seen such things happen multiple times to Westbrook and other athletes like Draymond Green during the 2022 NBA Finals and LeBron throughout his career.

A few individuals sympathized with the player. One fan said, “Fan is such a clown, don’t understand why Westbrook gets this much hate.” Another said, “Idk how you have a serious conversation with a person with a balloon hat on.” People began calling him Westbrick after his shooting percentages dropped while he was with the LA Lakers. When a player misses a shot, people say that the player shot a brick.
Russell Westbrook claimed ‘Westbrick’ shames his entire family’s legacy
Nearly two years ago, Russell Westbrook got into a battle with media personality, Skip Bayless. The legendary reporter was one of many individuals who used to term Westbrick. Over time, Bayless continued to use the nickname more often and Westbrook confronted him on X saying, “Yoooo… watch your mouth. Don’t say anything here you wouldn’t say to my face.” Unfortunately, Bayless’ trolling never stopped until things got serious.

Shortly after the nickname went viral, Russell addressed it during a press conference. He said, “‘Westbrick’ for example, to me, is now shaming. It’s shaming my name, my legacy for my kids. It’s a name that means, not just to me, but to my wife, to my mom, my dad, the ones that kind of paved the way for me.” Either way, Westbrook continues to shine even though he comes off the bench for the Clippers these days. LA also won against the Hornets, giving Russell the last laugh.
