Despite several bumps along the way, the Golden State Warriors are back in contention. Even though they didn’t finish #1 in the West as predicted earlier this season, They have fairly good odds to win it all. After almost 3 years the trio of Draymond Green, Klay Thompson, and Stephen Curry will reuinte for the playoffs.
They have secured third seed and will face depleted Denver Nuggets and hopefully cruz through round 1 with a relatively healthy roster. They went 0-5 towards the end of regular season and proved that they have a solid team built around Curry. This probably pushed long time NBA fan and music sensation Drake to bet $200k on them.
Will the Golden State Warriors break Drake curse?
If the Warriors make it out of the West they will not be the first team to break the Drake Curse. Infact, in 2019 he supported Toronto Raptors as a Canada native and saw his team lift their first ever championship trophy. It came against Golden State as they lost two key players to gruesome injuries.
Last night Drake revealed to his fans on Instagram that he bet $200k on the Golden State Warriors. If they win the Western Conference Finals, he will win $1 million. Although $200k mean nothing to a millionaire, was it a stupid bet to begin with?

He clearly waited to check Curry’s availability for the matchup against Denver Nuggets. Teh 2x MVP is cleared by the medical staff but the organization is reluctant to make his status official. Steph is determined to play and without him the Warriors do not have a very good record against Denver.
With Jamal Murray and MPJ out in addition to Campazzo’s one game suspension the bet seems logical from Drake’s end.
Steph Curry scrimmaged today. Three 6-minute segments. Kerr: “Felt good. Told me it’s another checkpoint to hit. He’s optimistic he’ll play Saturday.” Warriors not making anything official. But everything clearly remains on track.

Only a hasty return by Jamal Murray might affect Drake’s chances unless the curse is real and despite all odds in their favour the Warriors get knocked out.
