The Golden State Warriors saved face in Game 2 of the NBA finals after tying the series 1-1. Boston shocked the world by stealing game 1 but got humbled in the next game. Draymond Green found his footing in trash talk and his first victim was one of his biggest fans, Grant Williams.
Boston drafted Grant Williams in the 2019-20 NBA draft as the 22nd pick. A 6 foot 6 undersized power forward that plays with his heart on his sleeve. He played 69 games in his first season and started 5 of them but averaged just 3 points in 15 minutes per game. His production doubled over time and is now one of the best of the depth that the Celtics boast.
Draymond Green humiliates Grant Williams
Grant Williams plays for the Boston Celtics, the team that is representing the East in the NBA finals. Their opponents are the Golden State Warriors who were the most recent dynasty in NBA history. When Grant Williams was still in high-school, the Cavs-Warriors were going head to head year after year at the time.
He was a fan of the Warriors whilst his friends supported LeBron James.
“I was going for the Warriors then, back in the day because I was a Draymond guy. That was a fun moment for me because my teammates were all going for Bron…All these guys were betting on the Cavs and when they beat them, I talked so much trash for a week.”
Grant Williams was excited to play against Draymond Green. But everyone knows the saying ‘Never meet your heroes.’ During Game 2 of the NBA finals, Green started talking. Talking a ton of trash. All targeted at Grant.
“You’re not me. You wanna be me.”

Draymond has said something like this before to Paul Pierce when he told him he could never be like Kobe Bryant. Grant is a very similar player to Draymond as they are both undersized power forwards that play with a chip on their shoulder. But what Green said could motivate Williams to belittle his idol.
