Draymond Green, Stephen Curry, and the Golden State Warriors have made the NBA Finals. They were considered the favorites to win the finals vs Jayson Tatum and the Boston Celtics. Green has a history of acting out of control and on impulse at times. He chose to let the Celtics know what he thinks of them in game 2, despite losing game 1.
Green may have gone off on the Celtics in game 2. However, he is fortunate that his trash-talking was punctuated by the Warriors crushing the Celtics in a blowout win. GSW managed to win the game with a final score of 107-88. This show of dominance gave Draymond all the reasons in the world to engage in trash-talking, despite scoring a measly 9 points.
Draymond Green and his antics are well known in the NBA playoffs
Draymond has a reputation that precedes him. He has been suspended or ejected from several games due to unprofessional or non-sportsman-like behavior. One could argue that Green is the enforcer in the Golden State Warriors. He is definitely a dominant personality and has a loud voice on the court and in the locker room.
Green is crucial to holding down the Warriors’ defense. Additionally, he is also an excellent playmaker and possibly the best facilitator on the Warriors. These are arguably two of the most important roles in a basketball team. Therefore, the team goes how he goes.
Draymond was in a mood during game 2. An incident seemed to have occurred with Grant Williams. Grant is the opposing power forward for the Boston Celtics. The exact point of conflict seemed to happen around 7 minutes remaining in the fourth quarter. Williams and Draymond were fighting for spacing and potential possession as a foul was called against Grant. Draymond took this opportunity to engage with the crowd and mock the 23-year-old.
Funnily that wasn’t even the biggest incident of the night. Earlier in the game, Jaylen Brown and Draymond fell on the floor as Green fouled Brown on a three-pointer. However, tension escalated as they both rose and Draymond pulled at Jaylen’s pants to steady himself while rising to his feet.
Draymond’s antics are hilarious to watch as a spectator and must be aggravating for the opposition players. However, if he continues this form of behavior for trivial basketball plays, it is likely nothing good will come from it for the Golden State Warriors.
