Brittney Griner was released from Russia in December 2022. The US government traded Viktor Bout, a former arms dealer, for the WNBA player. This was what caused the stir in the country, as many demanded Paul Whelan’s release as well. Griner was arrested in Russia in 2022 when she was caught with vape cartridges containing weed. She was in prison for 10 months before being released. Since Brittney‘s release, her name has been mentioned almost whenever conversing about an American who is detained overseas. It has happened recently in the case of Andrew Tate as well.
For those who don’t know, Andrew Tate is a social media influencer and former boxer who has been arrested on charges including human trafficking, and organized crime. Along with the ‘Top G,’ Tristan Tate, his brother, was also arrested. Their detainment sent the internet into a meltdown as many claimed that the Tate brothers are innocent and that they should be released. In addition to that, some have even compared their situation to Brittney Griner’s.
Where is Andrew Tate right now?
Andrew Tate was arrested in Romania, along with Tristan, as mentioned earlier. The brothers were at their luxurious villa in Bucharest on December 29, 2022. This was when Tate took it to social media and accused the ‘Matrix’ of sending their agents. This was the start of the controversy surrounding the Tate brothers’ arrest, as they remain in a prison in Romania right now.
The Matrix sent their agents.

Many have demanded that Tate should be released if there isn’t enough evidence to keep him in jail. With that, some have mentioned Brittney Griner’s case and how the US should help Andrew and Tristan Tate out. Jake Shields, a former MMA champion, took to Twitter to express his opinions. He wrote, “What’s happening with Andrew Tate? My understanding is they are holding him without any charges Can Romania hold you indefinitely with a trial or even charges pressed?”

Can Romania hold you indefinitely with a trial or even charges pressed?

Another user replied and mentioned that Tate made an unwise decision to claim that European countries were “better” and now he is witnessing the “Real Eastern Europe.” Shields replied to this saying, “I agree it was stupid but the embassy should still help him like they did with [Brittney] Griner.”

Shields isn’t wrong, the US government went to a great extreme to secure Brittney’s release. However, that was done through a prisoner swap, one that has been under heavy scrutiny since December 2022. Once Shields mentioned Griner’s name, he caused quite a bit of a stir on Twitter as well.
she wasn’t involved in sex trafficking tho lol.

Tate is indeed a citizen of the United States, but he holds dual citizenship and has a UK passport as well. Despite that, the ‘Top G’ resided in Romania until his arrest at the end of 2022. The authorities are still reported to be investigating his case as his release is still a huge mystery. Only time will tell if the US government will be involved like they did with Brittney Griner.
