Adam Silver has been the NBA commissioner for as long as the current generation can remember. He has been at the helm for a good amount of time but not many are aware of his journey to the top. Silver took over the league back in 2014, and David Stern passed the torch after 30 years. Since then, Silver has held the reigns.
Many have been unhappy about his tenure. It is not a huge surprise that there has been a major difference in opinions between fans and the NBA. After all, the NBA is one of the most-watched sports leagues in the world. It was inevitable that Silver faced some heat from fans for certain calls. This has been the case this year, as referees’ calls toward players have been a hot topic too.

It is hard to point out a single instance where fans were left unhappy because of a referee’s call. One major example would be LeBron James’ no-call against Jayson Tatum and Boston Celtics. Similarly, there have been numerous questionable calls this season and Adam Silver has faced criticism for it all. Amid all this, reports of him leaving the NBA and accepting the CEO role at Disney emerged earlier this year as well.
Will Adam Silver leave the NBA to join Disney?
Recently, multiple sources claimed that the league’s commissioner was part of the candidates who could potentially replace Bob Igers as Disney’s CEO. That started a whirlwind of reports as many wondered if Silver could leave the NBA, and what could be the reason if he chose to do so. Some even pointed the finger at Ja Morant, who was involved in numerous controversies at the time.
The 60-year-old addressed these rumors during a press conference as well. He told the media that he loves his job as the league’s commissioner and that he has no intention of leaving.

While many supported his decision, some fans criticized him as well. A fan wrote on Twitter, “He ruined the league he should leave asap.” Another fan suggested what Silver could do, “Get rid of some refs.”

There have been people to support his decision to continue as the NBA’s commissioner. However, some were not too happy with Silver staying. Regardless, we can be sure that he will continue to work toward the betterment of the league, which the fans have continued to demand from the start.
There might have been a few disagreements between the supporters of the league, and the administrators, but we can be sure that the game has worked its way to evolution right now. Fans will know in the coming years whether Silver is the right man to lead the NBA into it.
